100%DIYazCOUES Report post Posted October 9, 2014 I'm looking for advice on what tripod to buy,I just recently upgraded binos and its time to ditch the old slik. Im looking to get something I can use standing(I'm 6'2") or sitting.I'd like to keep it around $200 or less, with a pan head, and not too heavy because I will be packing it. I know this it the place to ask, thanks for any input guys
rossislider Report post Posted October 9, 2014 I have a Vanguard Alta+ 264AO in that price range. It is probably a little on the big side, but several guys I spoke with talked me into it because it is solid! I was going to go a little smaller and lighter, but with my spotting scope zoomed way out I am glad to have something solid and heavy that will not twitch in the wind. I can also hang my pack from it for extra weight and stability. http://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-Alta-264AO-3-Section-Bird-watching/dp/B001HBIZ08
cpugsie Report post Posted October 23, 2014 Slik carbon fiber 713cf2. There's a guy on eBay from HongKong that I've purchased 5 of these from. They are no longer available in the states. He ships fast and packs well. Offer him 225. They are light weight and go tall enough for you to stand. Then buy a Bogen 3160 pan head used off eBay for $50. Hard to beat this combination at any price.

kazpilot25 Report post Posted October 23, 2014 I'd get some solid legs (I like the Cullmann Magnesit 519) for around $100, and get the 700RC2 head. You'd have a great setup for $169.38 delivered if you buy them both from BH Photo.
