This is how it works:

 

Me sz 13 till got out of military and gained weight

Sz 13ee fat and 30ish

Sz 14 fat and 35ish

Sz 14ee fat, 36ish and after 240# of deer feeder and corn resized foot for me

Now not quite as fat but after 3 foot reconstructions from deer feeder and major nerve damage and 42yrs old ==sz 15or 15ee in some brands

 

I now wear like $600 custom orthotics thanks to that hunt accident and MUST buy really nice boots so leather will handle them without getting sloppy. these danners are fantastic backpacking boots but do require some break in cuz pretty thick leather and gnarly vibrams.
