I am in the market for a new bow. My PSE Primos has done well for me but I am interested in a new one. I am thinking between PSE mach 10 or Firestorm X, Matthews Drenaline or the new Bowtech center pivot bow. I was wondering where in Phoenix I could go to shoot these bows or if anyone had any advise.

Anyone interested in buying a new bow may find this interesting. The guys at Archerytalk.com did a pretty cool study on the new boys on the market. It is a lot of information, and can be a little overwhelming, but is pretty cool.

Archerytalk.com has an amazing amount of information. The review board is down, but there are Archery Tech Evaluations under the main boards page that has some review info. Unfortunately it was done last year so the Drenaline and center pivot Bowtechs are not on there. It is a HUGE board (17,000 active members, 70,000 total). But be careful. There are lots of biased opinions and fan boys bashing other brands on there so take everything with a grain of salt. I too am in the market for a new bow and have been combing that place for info. You can learn alot if you find the right guys. I've had the best luck sending guys PM's that i saw had bows i was interested in. Also use the search engine to find threads on the bows you mentioned. I just shot the Drenaline literally less than an hour ago, and it is sweet. Not as dead in the hand as the Switchback, but it feels like a feather on the hold. The Guardian is another sweet bow and it looks awesome. Supposed to be a real tack driver. Wish i could help you with places to shoot, but i live in Vegas. I'd recommend using the dealer locater on the Matthews, Bowtech, etc websites to find dealers near you who have what you want, and then shoot as many bows as you can get your hands on. Good luck and keep us posted man!

For me the bottom line is every bow has a different feel. Don't worry about brand names or reviews... Just go and shoot it... if it fits you it fits you... If it doesn't it doesn't...

If you want to stick with Pse bows it is worth the drive to go to Tucson to the Pse pro shop(indoor/outdoor range) . Archery Headquaters is located in Chandler. B)

I am in the same boat as you. I also own the PSE primos and have good luck with it, but I am ready for another one. I shot the new bowtech gaurdian last Sunday and was very impressed. It was set at sixty pounds and pushed a 300 grain arrow at 305fps while still carrying over 70 pounds of kinetic energy. I also shot the Tribute. This is a very nice bow also. I went down and checked out the PSE mach x today and was told it is blazing fast, but has alot of hand shock. I am waiting for the Ross Cardiac to show up and the Bowtech Commander so I can shoot both of them before I make up my mind. David

It is a big dose of "humble pie" for me to admit this, especially since I'm a PSE dealer, but.....

deep breath, okay, here it goes.....

I shot a Hoyt Vectrix yesterday. Best bow I've ever had my hands on. I've also shot a Matthews Drenalin and a Switchback XT recently, and I would take the Hoyt hands down. You can feel zero recoil or "jump" and that thing is so quiet that it's amazing.

My Mach 12 is set at 58 lbs. w/ limb jacks, bow jax on the cables, dampeners on the quiver, Lore Stabilizer, etc. I though it was pretty quiet, but shooting the same arrows on that hoyt at 63 lbs. with nothing but the stock dampeners.... It was so quiet that it made my 12 sound like a tank going off, even w/ the 5 extra pounds of draw weight.

I had planned on purchasing a Diablo for my next bow, but needless to say that decision is now in question.

Did you shoot a Guardian yet? I just bought a new Bear Truth, but the Guardian was my second choice. I just could not justify a $400 difference in price between the Truth and the Guardian.

Yes, AT has a lot of very good info, if you can wade through all the "my bow is the best and your bow sucks" stuff.

What I am disappointed about is how the whole archery industry is conducted.

Each year they have a big contest to see who is gonna have the new big thing.

They all try to find shooters to buy so they can win some contest somewhere.

90% of archers live east of the Mississippi so some target that area.

The science and progression of archery is relative to the cash that can be had from archers and bowhunters.

Good thing all the bow manufactures only have to compete between them selves. They would get there tails kicked in the real world.

Good thing they don’t have to compete with real engineers for missile technology contracts.

I think they all suck and are a disservice to the sport of archery.

That’s about the most positive thing I have to say.

$730.00 for what????

  Now That is one Bitter point of view...... Your glass must be half empty!  Let me try to explain it to ya this a way.....

a new state of the art bow................$730.00

bow accesories................................$375.00

the best new arrows.........................$110.00

Shooting a 3" group at 110 yards.......PRICELESS!

Anyhow, I would like to shoot that new Hoyt...... I'd be really impressed if it is as sweet as Matty says..... :)...... I'll be checkin' one out one of these days.......soon. My buddies are always on me to keep tryin' the hoyt bows out..... they just don't feel "perfect" to me....

I have shot that Drenalin from Mathews.... light weight, but jumpy.....and probably not as forgiving as my Switchback.....

You know where I am going with this right....... ;)

Mathews Switchback XT........ Shoot it.... you'll buy it. It is really that good.... it is even better than my Switchback. :)

Ya know..... as much as I promo for Mathews on this site....... do you think they would send me $.01 of endorcement money????? Heck No!!!!
