Arrowsniper Report post Posted September 25, 2014 A friend mentioned a recent story of 2 guys hunting. They were field dressing their moose (I believe), when the bear attacked and killed one of the two. The survivor had to spend the night with the friends body. Does anyone have the link to this story? I can't find it.
biglakejake Report post Posted September 25, 2014 GERMANTOWN, TN - (WMC) - A Mid-South man is dead after he was attacked by a grizzly bear. A Germantown businessman was attacked in Norman Wells, Canada, located in the Northwest Territories of the country. People familiar with the attack say Ken Novotny had just killed a moose when the bear charged him. Novotny's guide told investigators that the victim was prepping the dead moose to be taken out of a wooded area when the bear came out of nowhere and struck Novotny in the head. The guide was not injured. Novotny hunted often and was a managing director at Raymond James, the company formerly known as Morgan Keegan. WMC Action News 5 reached out to his family members Monday, but they were too upset to do an interview. Friends say family members want to have a memorial service but are still waiting for Novotny's body to be sent back to Memphis. Immediately after the attack, officers began searching for the bear but so far they have not found it. Copyright 2014 WMC Action News 5. All rights reserved. Snapshot Report post Posted September 26, 2014 Years ago, I read somewhere that Grizzlies have associated the sound of gunfire to food. Where the more aggressive bears have chased hunters off their kill to claim it as there own.? I know a guy in Montana that shot a bull elk during archery season, and a Grizzly kept harassing them from a distance. Followed them as they were packing the elk out in the dark. He said it was a hair raising experience.

They hear the shot and investigate. When he hunts, he always has other people with him ready to deal with any aggressively curious bears.
