jim Report post Posted September 23, 2014 Anyone have details about this? 9/16/2014 5:58:00 AM G&F probes use of helicopter to harass antelope Don MartinFor the Miner KINGMAN - Officers from the Region 3 office of the Arizona Game and Fish Department are investigating a case in which a helicopter was allegedly used in Unit 18B to harass antelope. On two consecutive mornings during the recent antelope hunt, citizens reported to the department that a helicopter with unique markings and tail numbers was repeatedly chasing, herding and harassing antelope. Bob Kay of Kingman reported in a post on Facebook that a friend of his was one of those who observed this illegal activity. Under both Arizona and federal law, it is illegal to use an aircraft to harass, herd or purposely bother wildlife in any manner. A press release issued by the department stated that officers served a search warrant on the suspected helicopter and retrieved information from the aircraft's global positioning system. The helicopter was located at a ranch headquarters in Yavapai County. The department has reported that the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have yet been filed in this case. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has also opened an investigation into the matter regarding the alleged violation of the Federal Airborne Hunting Act. One of the provisions of the act is that the helicopter could be seized and forfeited. Many sportsmen in the community have heard about the incident and are wondering why the department has not released any additional information since the initial information was made public on Aug. 27. The names of those under investigation and the ranch that is allegedly involved in this case have not been released.

PRDATR Report post Posted September 23, 2014 A guy posted some pics or video of him doing some "scouting" on FB a few days ago but took it down after about 10 minutes when he realized it may have been illegal but not before some screenshots were taken and reported to G&F. It "may" have been related to this incident.

You could make it there in about 15 seconds instead of an hour.
Explorer Report post Posted September 24, 2014 A friend of mine worked on the ORO years back. He told me of a guy that flew in and landed on legal state land within the ranch checkerboard, set up camp for an antelope hunt. Guess the ranch had some pull with the authorities because they made him leave. He did return and pay the trespass fee and killed a nice buck. My friend worked for the ranch not Chad. I got to go out there a few times. Beautiful place. Deer everywhere. Most were inbred and stunted looking from years of not being hunted and breeding like rabbits.
