Product Review - Made in China Bino Adapter

Recommended Posts

I've gotten by fine with my Vortex bino adapter ($25) and don't really get out enough to warrant purchasing an Outdoorsman ($60). I'm taking a friend out on his first coues hunt and helping outfit him with gear without breaking the bank. The last thing I want to do is turn someone off by telling them they need top of the line everything and its going to cost them $$$ to be a successful hunter.

I ran across this Plain-Jane bino adapter on eBay. I liked the low profile so I took the risk and bought a two pack since I was paying for shipping. The pic made it look like there was a tall and short one. Turns out they are the same size. PayPal purchase of ($17.88) and exactly one week later these show up at my door. Pretty simple bent bracket with two 1/4-20 holes for mounting and a 1/4-20 stud with knurled knob. It installed easy on my Nikon Monarch and was really low profile. If using a bino strap I don't see any reason to take this adapter off. I was surprised it also fit with my binos in my Badlands Bino Case.

I am in no way endorsing a made in China product over USA, but thought this might be a good option for those on a budget or looking for a backup in their pack.

Weight:

Vortex: 2.9 oz China: 2.3 oz

Height: 4.0 in China: 2.5 in

I will be selling these for $25 in the classified section if anyone is interested. (kidding)

I'm sure the vortex adapter is made overseas as well. all of their products are. looks like a fool proof, simple product that saves money and works

Looks too wide to work with any big objective bino though. I know my 15s are tight when adjusted to my face. My old Nikon adapter would not fit on my 15s, and neither would my older Vortex Unidapter tall type with a knurled knob. I hade to get a different Allen wrench bolt to mount them up.

Should work fine for most 10x42 type roof prism or most porro prism binos though.
