Lessons Learned

Recommended Posts

I learned that scouting does no good when you have roads on every ridge and creek bottom. you should leave the area and try to find a better spot. And most of all trust your gut feeling 9 out of 10 it will be right.

I also learned dont leave your back pack un-attened while taking a leak around Mr. Jim Mullins and Mr. Christian.... because they will stuff it full with about 20 pounds of rocks and expect you not to notice! good thing for me im smarter than the average bare!

Ahhh so many things learned over the years. Alot of us have learned the same lessons doing things our own ways. As I sat here nodding my head reading these posts...haha. here are a few things I have learned.

1. If you want to harvest a 100"+ buck you must pass on the smaller ones.

2. Shoot your rifle often and be comfortable with it. Know where it shoots at different distances.

3. Use the best optics you can afford. Can never stress this one enough!

4. No matter how bad the hunting may be that day, its always nice to share camp with family and good friends.

5.And the one thing I tell everyone, DONT EVER GIVE UP HOPE UNTIL THE VERY LAST SECOND OF DAYLIGHT THE VERY LAST DAY OF YOUR HUNT! This one has proven iself to many times over the years!!

I was just tryin' to slow him down! Casey is a big dude, but that boy can hike! You gotta take in to account his 5 lb. pack helps him move a little faster though! :P

It's not which unit it's the time spent in the unit.

I've had success in 36a and a handful of other units as well.

Casey,

I hope another lesson you learned is to fill your truck up with fuel before you drive it out to go hunting..............

I learned that if I am riding with Casey to bring cash so I can buy him fuel from some very generous hunters at 5am out in the middle of nowhere.......................
