azgutpile Report post Posted September 17, 2014 If the kid did break the law, he should accept responsibility for his actions. The rules are simple to understand... If there isn't an open season and it's not a House Sparrow, Pigeon, Eurasion Dove or Starling (non-native species), you can't kill it.

Lucafu1 Report post Posted September 17, 2014 Well Mr. Average Joe, I had always heard that Marines were the first to go, but in the unit that I was in (82ND Airborne) we said that the only way any Marine was going in before us is if the President dialed the wrong number. .270 Report post Posted September 17, 2014 It's kinda funny that a kid shooting a dam sparrow has dredged up this crap about actual crimes committed by azgfd folks. This kid will do more penance than all the outlaws, that we know of, that are game "wordens". No telling the scope of the feces they've pulled that never saw daylight. We all know they have their trolls on this site. Be nice if one of em would enlighten us as to why that is? We know you're watching from cover. Did anybody ever hear what happened to their undercover creep that got caught embezzling? I'll bet a dollar he's still on the payroll. Maybe that's why the are writing sparrow tickets to kids. Gotta make up for what he stoled that they never recovered. Lark.

bonecollector777 Report post Posted September 17, 2014 I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million more. . AZGFD=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ That's what it's all about. That's what it's always been about. Even if they have to give 15 year Olds tickets to do it. 💰💲💵💸 what would have been wrong with telling the kid hey you can't shoot sparrows don't let it happen again. Next question I have is why in the H is there even a law regarding shooting sparrows? Every kid with a bb gun is a wanted criminal for blasting them off the back porch. AZGFD loves to claim their law breaking was an accident and the law breaker is remorseful so they take it easy. They couldn't care less about how sorry or remorseful a 15 year old kid may be after something like this and they will throw the book at him. Hypocrites are only making more and more people hate them.
520HUNT Report post Posted September 18, 2014 The criminal fines for killing a Jaguar is $50,000 and the civil fines are $25,000 I think the hunters of this State are owed some money from the department!
520HUNT Report post Posted September 18, 2014 Or if this kid is actually cited, he can turn around and sue the department for wrong doing in the investigation and receive $100,000 from the tax payers and have the whole crime swept under the rug, like the Wildlife Officer who poached the elk. Coach Report post Posted September 18, 2014 I actually had a similar incident when I was around 15 or 16. I was out duck hunting one morning near town, didn't have any luck and later in the morning shot a couple birds - something I grew up doing all the time with my pellet gun in the woods of Oklahoma. A game warden walked up and asked if I was duck hunting. I said, "Yeah, but no ducks so I'm just shooting some of these 'dickie' birds". He just laughed and recognized I obviously didn't realize that what I was doing was not legal, then informed me that here in AZ, any bird not given a specific season was illegal to shoot. That was over 25 years ago and I've never shot another non-game bird since. IMO, he handled the situation correctly. Problem solved, no courts or fines and no "repeat offenses". People are just a little too up-tight these days, lol.
Vinnie B Report post Posted September 18, 2014 Give the kid a break, There isn't a one of us on here that hasn't ever broken a law, knowingly or unknowingly... I will donate to help him pay his fine too Lance, just let me know how it plays out.
