Hawk attacking my chickens

Recommended Posts

Might give the chickens some cover they can get under quickly. Hawks have to be able to swiftly land on their prey. My chickens know when there's a hawk over head and they go under cover till the hawk leaves. On the ground the chicken is swift and lite of foot leaving a grounded hawk in its dust. I've never lost a chicken to a hawk.

Put the chickens in a Plexiglass Cage and setup a GoPro Camera. Could be a money making video.

Going out to take care of chickens late one night......as I approach the coop I can tell from the noise that something not right is going on inside so I pan the door open really slow with my flashlight pointed to the floor.....i figured a fox or a skunk or something was in there stirring things up. Nothing on the floor but the chickens are still going crazy so I start scanning the lower roosts....nothing......get up to the 3rd rung and sitting there calm as can be eyes wide open a huge barn owl......scared the poop right out of me. That was not fun trying to get that guy out of the coop.......hawks and owls are awesome animals til they start messing with the chickens........

I must speak chicken too, cuz I thought it was strange one morning none were in the coop laying, not even the brooders...

Walked into the coop to collect eggs and there was a rattler coiled up in a nesting box.

I like the creative genius being manifest here! I think I will go ahead and try the plexiglass deal! That sounds downright hee-larious!!
