I have a custom 270 Weatherby Mag that really loves the LRAB's, I've been reading some bad reviews though that guys that have shot game with them under 500 yds have had trouble with them. Meaning bullet is coming a part, not mushrooming right, etc due to the performance velocity of 1300 fps rather than 1800 of most bullets. I have a deer hunt in Utah next month and think that most of my opportunities are going to be around 600 and under. So with all these bad reviews I've been thinking of trying the berger hunting vld's or just the regular 140gr accubonds to avoid these problems. Any thoughts? LRAB out of our .270s. since last year: coues deer 800 yards DRT coues deer 225 yards DRT Javelina 250 yards DRT bull elk 1025 yards DRT (bullet broke both shoulders, took out top of lungs. found in offside hide. retained 70% of its weight) Looking forward to a lot more real life testing this year hopefully 3 more coues and two more bulls. lancetkenyon Report post Posted September 8, 2014 I am working up a load with the .277 150 LRABs for my daughter's elk hunt. Seem to fly pretty good, as far as this rifle is concerned. And the BC is like nothing else out there. I have used the .277 140 VLDs before, and they performed great on deer.
