almost Report post Posted September 6, 2014 Anyone have one of these? Wondering how it secures from the adapter to the plat? Does it lock in or just slide into the sleave? Thanks.
Kaffer62 Report post Posted September 6, 2014 there is a male end that attaches to your binos, and the female sleeve attaches to your tripod. the male just slides into the female. There is a small grove that keeps the binos from moving left to right in the sleeve. basic set up but it works. you just cant expect to turn your tripod upside down or the binos will fall out

DesertBull Report post Posted September 6, 2014 I drilled a small hole through both pieces of the adapter and put a retainer pin in to keep them secure. Also, the male piece that attaches to your binos is threaded so you can attach directly to your tripod head and not use the female piece.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 6, 2014 There are actually two ways you can attach the Jim White adapters. One is the way that Kaffer62 describe it. There is a post and a receiver cylinder. The post screws into your binos and the cylinder screws on to your tripod head plate. The post attached to your binos slids into the cylinder receiver that is attached to your tripod plate. You can leave the post screwed into the binos all the time and when you want to move just lift them up and pull them out of the cylinder. This is the method most people use and is very secure. Even if you tip your tripod onto it's side, the binos won't slide out. Many years ago I knocked my tripod over and the binos stayed attached to the adapter. The only way to shake your binos loose would be to actually turn your tripod exactly upside down. Another way to attach them is to skip using the cylinder and just screw the post directly to your binoculars and tripod head plate. Then just leave the post and plate attached to binos and when you are ready to glass, just slide the plate into the tripod head. With this method, even if you turn your tripod upside down, the binos stay attached.
