I really like mine they fit very well and so far they are wearing well.the only thing I find is for archery hunting they are hard to walk without breaking limbs and stuff with the stiff soles.

They will tell you a five mike break in. I love them. The soles suck but you can get them rebuilt with vibram for $150

If you don't like the soles buy the hardscrabble hiker, similar boot but has a vibram sole. The only boot without vibram is the desert guide. They put a harder some on them as th rocks in az will chew up the vibrams but they sure do grip good!

They definitely take some break in, 40+ miles but they are really tough boots. Be prepared for blisters until they are broken in

i wore em for a good 12 hours over a two day period and no problems and definitely no blisters . i will continue to do breakin but they are comfortable enough that i think that i could have gone off on my huntin trip straight out of the box . the desert guides are not as tall as mountain extremes, i dont know, maybe that makes a difference . i have always worn taller boots because i like the protection from cacti and lechuguilla but most of time i didnt lace em all the way up , maybe some good gators would be nice with these shorter boots .
