Guest wdenike Report post Posted September 3, 2014 When I was growing up, my father was a member of the Phoenix Varmint Callers. I had fond memories of our summer PVCI camps and frequent predator calling trips and tournaments. One of the rules in the PVCI was that you could not use electronic calls during tournaments. So, my father spent many years teaching me to use hand calls. I perfected the art and can say with pride that I have taken many predators using hand calls. I agree that the electronic callers have come a long way in quality and ease of use, and there is certainly an advantage for the hunter, but are you honestly a skilled hunter if all you do is place a speaker in a bush and hit play? Opinions? QUESTION OF ETHICS????? Are you suggesting more restrictive legislature, and more privileges to be taken away??? Or are ya looking for an atta boy??? I'm hoping the later. So here ya go. Great job you guru of the hand calls. Now please don't give them any more ideas for more rules. They are all doing fine with out any help. Take care, Willie
sniper Report post Posted September 4, 2014 Keep in mind that not everyone had a dad that took them hunting or taught them how to use a hand call. This nothing to do with ethics at all.

WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted September 5, 2014 Its just like the fly fishing debate...just because you spend more time tying flies, preparing your presentation etc...doesn't mean that all other ways are "unethical"..it just means that's how you like to spend your time and where you get your satisfaction. I love fly fishing and using hand calls for predators, but my time with my young boys is more important and at a young age they want to be successful so I will use lures or bait and electronic calls or high end binos and equipment if it allows my family and I to be successful.
