marko Report post Posted August 18, 2014 Was lucky enough to draw a unit 9 Muzzle loading deer tag. I live close enough to do lots of scouting. I would like some pointers on where to start. I'm not looking for which stump to sit on but rather general areas to explore. Was up there a few weeks ago and it was extremely dry west of 64. Tanks were dry but we've had some rain since. any suggestion are welcome.
Saguaro Report post Posted August 18, 2014 Welcome. You should do well. There is a thread somewhere on here of a guy that took a real big non-typical during the archery hunt. I do not have any real good info for you as I do not spend time in that unit other than shed hunting. From what I hear, it might be good to focus near the Park Boundary. GreyGhost85 Report post Posted August 18, 2014 gotta love when post #1 is asking for help on a hunt. I'll tell you the same thing most other people on here are going. go to azgfd.gov and look at the hunt unit descriptions. it will give you some places to start
nateNAU Report post Posted August 19, 2014 Skinner ridge and red butte are good starting places. If you are holding out for a big buck I would check the feeder canyons into the cataract.
