Bark river are great knives! Also have Buck Omni hunter and Alpha. Really like the bucks but if I only had 1 knife it would be the Bark river.

I swear by the Buck 110, Use the Kershaw knife set for the gutting and sawing of bones. The Buck 110 rocks for cutting apart the meat and skinning. Never had to sharpen the knife yet.

I have a buck 110 that I keep in the truck that my dad gave me, kind of like my do everything knife. Years ago my dad broke the blade on it he sent it to buck they put a new blade on it and sent it back free of charge. 110 is hard to beat

Usually carry a Benchmade for a folder on my belt. But I have completely bought in to the Havalon for field dressing but it is very limited for other stuff and I don't think I would want it to be my only survival tool.

I also have a titanium neck knife that is a custom job I bought on the knife makers forum.

Have and carry several. An old Schrade is my primary. I believe it's the old man model. It still sharpens easy and holds an edge well.

I still use one I made myself in a knive making class put on by a guy named McLane. He taught for several years at pima college before he moved to Vermont or New Hampshire or somewhere. Great knive, gutted and skinned two elk and two coues before it needed sharpening.

Take a look at these knives:

Outdoor Edge Swingblade

This is the only chinese made knife I would recommend. Didn't know till after I bought it but, it works really well and holds an edge.

Buck Paklite with the grip

#135 is my favorite smaller sized knife. Since I got it in a kit I also have #141 and hoping to try #499 on an elk this year just for fun. This knives did require some extra work to sharpen the first time but now can be used for shaving or butchering just about anything I think.

Kershaw 1560

Very good folding knife for the money.

Buck 422

If you can find one of these they are the perfect size and lightweight.

I love my outdoor edge swing blade, it does its job and I have it in my travel pack when I am out walking around.

For field dressing I prefer my havalon.

For survival- if I was going to buy a millennial survival knife (one that I could pass onto my kids) I would buy a Randall knife...if you are going to drop serious money on an all-around blade you should check them out.

Cold Steel Pendleton Hunter is my favorite fixed blade hunting knife in my collection at the moment. That is one seriously stout little knife with perfect ergonomics, a razor sharp blade, and a very grippy handle material. I also carry a Benchmade mini-griptilian 555 just about everywhere I go. Love that knife. I have a few Made in USA Kershaws that I won't be parting with if I can help it. I want to try a Buck 113 Ranger skinner someday.
