Well the gist of this thread agian seems to show we are a pretty good lot of sportsmen. Not sure what Silenthunter686 is trying to say, but everyone else is on target.

I think many NGs are full of people that want to come off real tough and unaproachable, but not here on CWD :D

I generally try to get someplace that I won't run into too many other hunters, and when I do see them, I give them some sort of a wave to let them know I am not target for them to look at through their scope. If they come over, quietly, a short chat is reasonable too.

43yrs plus as a native Arizonan also and in about 30 plus years of hunting I still find it hard to tell for sure if a hunter is a Resident or non Resident. (except for the dude I ran into a few years ago) I cannot tell where anyone is from until we talk. By that time we usually find something in common to bridge the NR or R gap.

That said... It is Annoying as a hangnail when someone carelessly blazes through your area and then wants to sit and chat and glass with you for a couple hours. If they cannot take the hints, I think I might get a little rude at that point and ask them to move on, or maye go to another spot myself.

I would help most people in emergency or breakdown situations and even with questions or advice, but some folks ATTITUDE could get them More help than others. Simple etiquette and attitude, not of their point of origin can go a long ways.

:D

I have always been helpful to other hunters no matter where they come from, and will continue to do so. I like to be away from other hunters anyway and find places that many people don't know about. I do have a vast knowledge of southern Arizona from my avid four wheelling days and my work with the Forest Service. I am willing to share my knowledge as many have shared theirs on this forum or out in the field. To me, getting out is more important to me than getting a deer

AZ4life, don't get me wrong . I treat people the why I want to be treated. with respect and common curtsy. I get along with any body in the field. If you see a hunter putting on a stalk sit down and watch ,back off and hunt a different hill or MNT. help them fallow a blood trail or recover thier animal. Just when you have inexperienced hunter look at you through his scope from across a canyon because they don't have binos your feathers get a little ruffled.( from experience) Another way to say it is if we have to be cert. in hunter safty it other states, why shoudn't they? Do you see what I mean? I have no problem helping any one.

I would help just about anyone out. Remember if you need help do you care if they are res or non res. I've met some very nice and helpfull non res. on hunts. for the most part were all there for the same reason.

One year I ran out of ammo on the 3rd day of the hunt. Thanks to the non res camped next me, they just so happen to have with them some 25-06 ammo and gladly helped me out. Since then I have run into them 3 others years out at deer camp, and always look forward to seeing them there. They make some of the best dutch oven peach coble and margaritas ever. I hope to see them this year.

I gotta ask how you ran out of ammo, lost, missed, or had a sighting problem.

I know one year I went and could not find the ammo I shot before I left on a hunt, nobody in town had any, at least where I checked, I had like five rounds, I made a trip into town the night before opening day and bought a box, and never fired a shot the entire hunt. Like I have said before if someone needs help I am not asking for ID, after talking with people they usually tell you where they are from, and I would hate to see the day when you were afraid to say where you are from, and as far as people I have met while hunting, I don't know if I have ever met anybody that didn't treat me well, I have given up parts of hunts to drive someone into town to get a tire fixed, my brother loaned some hunters his spare, we didn't ask where thet were from, we were all hunting in the same area, that night they brought back the spare and offered to pay for using it (my brother didn't take anything).

I think the one thing that most hunters have in common is trust, think about it when you are camping most of your stuff is left out where anyone could take it, vehicles are parked in places where someone could vandalize or steal it with little chance of getting caught, we talk to people that are holding weapons. Now think about this if you were in town your car and most of your stuff would be stolen and you would be shot or robbed, and to add to that in town if you have a weapon a police officer would treat you like a criminal until he figured out why you had the weapon, a game warden on the other hand has to deal with a weapon just about every time he talks to one of us, and most of the time they trust us, what are the odds of that. I am telling all of you guys that if they was to do a poll on hunters that are in trouble with the law we would fall well below the national average.

Good luck and God bless

I geuss it was a both miss and sighting problem. Never got one that year but it was the most exciting hunt I have ever been on. The problem I found out was my scope witch was a tasco and was knocked out of adjustment some how. Many people told me since then that tasco scopes will do that with most rifles that have more recoil than a 243. Now I have a leopold scope I cant wait untill this season.
