Where do you store your tag before hunting season?

Recommended Posts

I used to out them in a seperated drawer. About 20 yrs ago I had an archery cow tag ( back when you could get drawn almost every year) and got all the way to camp when I realized I'd forgotten my tag. Had to miss opening morning waiting for my cousin to get there with it. Ever since then as soon as I get a tag in the mail it gets signed and goes into my wallet til I hopefully get to use it.

Sign it as soon as I get it and then goes in the hunting pack. Nice little zippered pocket.

Always shed a few tears as I remove last years unused tag!

I have a hunting folder in my filing cabinet that has everything I need for applications and it has all my tags in it. Got tired of putting them in an area "I wouldn't forget" only to be tearing the house apart the night before a hunt looking for it.

This is exactly what I do. I have a folder that I keep all of my licences (both Utah and AZ) and tags in, for myself and kids. Also keep copies of kid's proof of Hunter Ed! ;) This is one of the few areas in my life that I stay VERY organized on!! :D

Yep! Can't find my taxes or my insurance information for the life of me in the filing cabinet....but my hunting information is easily accessible! I keep my little brothers' information as well since one of them couldn't kill a javelina last year since the night before the hunt he realized he hadn't seen his tag in a while...

I have a small bag inside my pack that always carries all my tags, az and others and hunters safety card for out of state hunts, also havalon and blades, latex gloves and small first aid and emergency items...it goes everywhere my pack goes...I know I always have all my tags. Soon as I get one it goes inside..

I put mine on top of my gun safe after I sign them. One year I went to tag my turkey and it wasn't signed and I didn't have a pen. I dipped a twig in turkey blood and signed it. I kept that tag!

I was thinking of vacuum sealing it and then geocaching it during an earlier scouting trip at least a few miles in the middle of nowhere, forcing me to get up early and put boot leather on the ground opening morning... :P

Sounds like most of us have had that heart stopping moment of holy hannah where did I put that tag....my wife keeps track of all important documents and she is the most reliable memory I have to keep track of said documents.

Good luck out there to all....

Mine gets signed and put in my wallet as soon as it gets out of the mail box. I never go anywhere without my wallet so I know I always have it. The 6P rule gentlemen learn it,live it.

In the phone drawer under our old fahioned land line, unless I pit it in a safer place. Either way I'm always in a panic when I start looking for it the day before I leave for camp

I have an antique had carved box that just happens to be the exact size to accommodate the tag in the envelope they come in. I put the tag in the box and it sits on my nightstand next to my bed.
