Where do you store your tag before hunting season?

Always put mine in my hunting pack with a pen. Superstitious so I never sign my tag until the animal is dead. I know technically this isn't allowed but whenever I run into a game and fish officer and they make me sign my tag I might as well throw it away because I just got jinxed.

In NY you must wear your tags in a little pin-on pouch (3x5inch) that goes in the middle of your back, so you learn to protect that little pouch good.

Back-Tags must be worn, visable to all, while out hunting (except in the northern zone).

(And this is why you may see the little tabs with the two holes in them on the back of newer hunting coats/jackets).

 

So I keep two pin-on pouches going , one with Arizona licences and tags, one for NY, keep both in my hunting pack outer pocket, this way they are never lost or mixed-up...

So nobody in NY wears a backpack while hunting?

 

 

I will pin tag to the pack...

Guy's lose their backtags every year, that little pouch gets caught on brush and comes un-pinned if you use the cheap pouches...

I buy the tag then straight on to the antlers the next day. Antlers is the best way to keep your tag safe

I've started a folder this year because I'm tired of misplacing my tags.

I used to put it in a basket on the couter, not anymore. only took one time not to find it there and scared the heck outta me the night before the hunt. Turns out my wife put it somewhere safe for me. She even told me where at the time she did it. Boy it sucks gettig old!

 

Now mine goes stright into a zipper pouch in my day pack after I signed it. Then just before the hunt I pull it out and put it in my wallet. No matter what pack I take or what kind of huting I end up doing I always have my wallet so there is no fear I left it in a pack I dont have with me.

i go a little overboard in ensuring i don't misplace them. i thumb tack them to the wall in a very visible place that i see every day. i have even tacked them to the ceiling before
