couesbowhunter1 Report post Posted August 13, 2014 Ive been thinking about going up to unit 23 sometime this August for OTC turkey and deer. How is the deer and turkey population? The game and fish website says that the Naegelin Rim/Canyon area and Turkey Peak is a good spot to start for both. What do you all think? Ive never been there before so thank you all for your help! mbiewer Report post Posted August 13, 2014 Technically, since I have a tag for both im not allowed to say anything. . Turkey is pretty thick there. This will be our first time in there. Scouting for a previous deer trip, the actual deer trip, and just camping seems like we always could shake a few turkey loose. When the draw came out I gleaned the internet for info. One post from 2009 from one of the sights said any road at the top of the unit has turkey. Obviously its dated, but who knows. We stay in the lower half. One of the group got his deer and went to take it to payson to get processed and said tha the top half of the unit off the 260 was pretty thick with hunters.
