Political Discussions request

Recommended Posts

I have to call BS on that. They are NOT being honest with you or themsleves.

Unless you can read minds, I really don't think you are in a position to call BS on this.

At the risk of being flamed by the more recent negative toned responses that have become common place on this site, I am one of the people who contacted Amanda and voiced my concerns.

First in that the Politics have been dominating the board, second for the negative attitude that it has generated in all threads and for what I found deeply hateful and offensive discussion you started.

Yes I didn't need to read any of them but so often the members of this board espouse the principles of Family, Faith and Friends how could I not when a third of my family is Christian, a third Bahi'a and yes a third Muslim. Although none of us are what would be called active practitioners we do identify our selves by our born into faiths. What you were advocating for is essentially the extermination of a third of my family.

Further, the political topics and negative / confrontational responses associated with them along with an overall increased level of negativity towards Members, Game and Fish Department and many other entities this site has diminished in not only my eyes but in many others.

I've been a member for 8 years. For years this was the only forum I ever visited and it was the first thing I checked in the morning and the last thing I checked evening. I was more interested in checking the new active posts then I was my own email. There was a day where I read every post now I hardly read 20%. Additionally, I now frequent two other forums and CWT.com has become the last one I check. On those other forums there are no political discussions and the tone of those forums are nothing but positive - kinda like CWT.com use to be.

Now I fully expect to be flamed for this but I speak the truth as I and many others see it. I'm sure I will be called a whiner, a liberal and I'm sure much worse but know this I don't care what is said because I know where I stand, I know who I am and I know I live my life in accordance with with my faith and in doing that I had an obligation to register my concerns and complaint.

Flame away!

SquirrelFlameThrower.jpg Hahah.. I hear ya bud, but it's like anything else if you don't want too see it don't click on it.It's like a scary a$$ movie you don't want to watch it but once you start, you can't stop :) As I wish we were still able to discuss politics, "it is what it is I guess" I for one will miss it.But it's Amanda's toys her rules.. :(

Unfortunately whether we like it or not politics affects every facet of our lives including hunting. This country is in the shape it is in right now because of political apathy.

You got it there, working, hunting, eating, sleeping and whatever else . It all matters and muslim religion is a factor. Shhhhhh. Did I say that out loud?

I truly empathize with Amanda on this subject. On the one hand, as many have mentioned, there is a LOT of stuff going around these days, politically, that have the potential to shape our future and the world our children will live in. If you aren't aware of these things and quite frankly, PO'd, and wanting to discuss them with others, you are asleep at the wheel, for lack of a better term.

However, there are literally thousands of web sites out there where we can get on our soap box and preach politics, religion, etc. People will disagree - sometimes start making actual threats, etc.

I can't speak for Amanda, but from my own perspective, one of the things I love about CWT is how it hasn't turned into one of those other sites - yet.

In the professional world, or being invited to someone's house for a dinner or BBQ, it's kind of an unwritten rule, you tone-down, back off the rhetoric, avoid polarizing issues and maintain a certain level of civility, as respect to your host.

From my perspective, when I come on CWT, I think of it like I've been invited to Amanda's house to enjoy some food and meet new people. The last thing I want to do is start a fight or get belligerent and make other guests feel unwelcome.

If you respect this forum, its founders and members, try to approach it like you would a dinner party with your company/co-workers/supervisor, etc. Having an opinion is great, and expressing that opinion in an honest, deliberate, respectful manner shows integrity.

Trashing the home you were invited into shows the opposite, IMO.

I will let this die-off, unless called out again...

Off to San Diego for a long weekend with the GF, in my gas-powered FJ with the anti-islam window lettering and "Infidel" neck tatt, pro-American, catch and release fishing stickers, broadhead tipped arrow radio antena and the BIG Coues Whitetail.com lettering on the side window...

I could care less if they "offend" anyone...

Since this seems to be dirrected at me, I will reply...

You say you didnt read the comments on the topics I have posted about islam, but you say I want to "exterminate' 1/3 of your family"...

You should have been honest with yourself and read them before contacting Amanda with your complaints, I was pointing out the horrors of ISLAM, and it's need to be stopped, not calling for the death of muslims or inciteing violence...

So now some of the Truth is coming out...

You dont like differing opinions, things arent like they "used to be" and You dont like it... Fine ScoutM, it is a Good thing to have an opinion, but to silence others is not a good thing either...

Amanda can do as she pleases, her site, her rules, I respect that...

A few corrections...

I said "I didn't need to read them". I didn't say "I didn't read them" so I do know what was contained in them and only after careful consideration did I pass on my concerns.

As for differing opinions, I not only welcome them, I encourage them. What I don't like is when individuals can't communicate those differing opinions in a respectful manner and are unable to show the same respect for others opinions they expect to be shown to theirs.

And for change, I welcome it when its for the best. The changes I've seen to this site I do not believe are for the best and therefore I voiced my concerns which I don't believe you would have issue with given you have done the same thing. I never asked the political forum be closed nor to be returned to hunting issues only, I did request the one thread be locked down, the return to its original intent was Amanda's choice - all I did was voice my concern. I understand your opinion on this differs from mine and I respect that and am respectful of it. Please try to show me the same respect.

Sadly, I understand all too well the horrors of extremist and extremism as my wife and her family has be the victim of it so there is no need to lecture me on or question my resolve against it.

Fair Enough ScoutM...

If you found my comments "hatefull and deeply offensive", I dont know what to tell you, as most of my posts were quotes from the quran, leaders or by islamic "scholars". Their words/actions are hate filled and offensive and I was just passing them on, Dont shoot the messenger...

As for discussing topics in a respectfull manner, If you did read through my comments, you will find that I quoted verses from the quran, articles by apostates and personal opinions.

None of which called for killing anyone.

None of which were refuted.

One person, Dustin25, said I was calling for genocide, which I never did, blame him for bringing it up.

The" international day of burning the quran on 9/11" seems to have been the last straw for some prople who have disagreed with my posts, as they stood on the side-lines in silence(except in privite messages), was that "disrespectfull"???

In my opinion, A book that promotes rape, child molestation, subjugation, killing, maiming, lies, deception, etc. is "disrespectfull" to the World.

(I have already posted my experences from before, during and after 9/11, and the personal effects it has caused to not only me, but America and the rest of the civilised World)

I am so happy for you and your wife ScoutM, I am sure you show her nothing but freedom, respect, compassion and Love.

You, ScoutM, brought her out of darkness, saved her life by your Love.

And that is something to be Proud of...

I've quiet, respecting Amanda's request.and I am not going to even respond to oneshot. How could you're comments be taken as offensive, disrespectful, and calling for genocide? Give me a break, that's exactly what they were.

Scoutm, . I can only imagine the anger that must well up when people on this site call for genocide that includes your own flesh and blood. You handle it extremely well, better then I do.I just want you to know that you are far from alone in seeing through the hypocrites crap, and we are the vast majority.seems the extremists on this site just pipe up more then the rest of this about this stuff.keep up the good fight!

I was going to be quite also, but I can not. I hate to keep this thread dragging on and I hope not to contribute any grief to Amanda, I believe she was quash this sort of thing, and given a little time I do hope she gets that. But I just have to say this one thing.

Oneshot is right. It was YOU Dustin that used the term genocide. He did NOT, YOU put those words in his mouth. I believe one of the offended persons alluded to the genocide of his family, but again it was YOU Dustin that said that word and gave that concept.

As you put it "let's call a spade a spade", I don't know if you are a troll or not, but what I remember of your posts they were mostly inflammatory. If that was you intent, you did "fight the good fight" and brought about the change you wanted

Did I miss something andcommande? I too read through their argument. What would you call eliminating an entire religion and its people? Thats pretty much the definition of genocide.Sounds like dustin25 simply called 'a spade a spade' as you put it.I'm not taking sides, but from what I read, that is exactly what was being talked about.yes,he was the first to use the word genocide, but he just put a name with the face, per se.

Again,I'm not taking sides at all,I've talked to both of them with private messages, and they both know I agree with them both with some things and not others.and they were both very respectful even though i didnt agree with them fully.but put them together in debate and theres obviously bad blood and no backing down from either side, and it ended up ugly haha!but in this case it was what it was.

Ok.....let's not rehash an already closed thread.....let's move on people.....now I am going to lock this thread too as it seems to be getting off topic.

If you want to keep arguing over oneshot or dustin's comments in that prior thread, you can PM them. Both of those guys can obviously take a punch, so I am sure they would be happy to clarify any statements they made or beliefs they hold if you contact them privately.
