The last pack I'll ever need

Recommended Posts

Been absent for a while on vacation in Heaven (SW CO) and doing a lot of fly fishing.

I just received a Kifaru Nomad, Duplex frame, and Camp Bag. I'm sure this is no stranger to many on here, and I've been Kifaru guy for quite a while having used several extensively overseas, but this is the first true "hunting" pack I've owned. The possibilities with this thing are endless and I've got plans to not only pack out every animal I shoot but take it on a long list of backcountry fishing trips in the mountains. There are a maze of customizable adjustments and I'm just getting into them but its ridiculously comfortable. I'm not a big Kryptek fan so its gonna get its own custom camo job this week. Just thought I'd show it off a bit :D

Nice pack! How was the fishing in CO?

I'd say "great" but it was more of a family camping trip than a pure fishing trip. We spent 4 days in the Dolores River Valley and 5 days in Durango. I fished the Dolores, West Dolores, and Animas Rivers and hit Alta Lakes above Telluride and Haviland Lake north of Durango. Caught fish in everything but the Animas despite the $60 in streamers I spent specifically for that river and the brand new Hatch 5+ I bought specifically for my 6wt rod. No big deal; it wasn't my first time on that river and it sure as heck won't be my last. It goes without saying the scenery and environment in that part of the state makes the "catching" part secondary to the "fishing" part, at least as far as I'm concerned.

BIG plans in that area for this pack...

Thanks bro. In the end, it came down to an attitude of "don't mess with what isn't broken." I have a history with Kifaru and although they are wickedly expensive, the peace of mind in having something this critical on my back is worth the extra dough.

Still want a Stone Glacier though...

I'm a big Kifaru fan, good luck with your purchase, but I would caution you not to look at their site anymore because they keep innovating and sooner or later you WILL want another pack! LOL!
