Xnt Report post Posted August 4, 2014 Can it be done? its a tent from Costco. I'd rather not just return it, but I've only taken it on two trips, about three nights each, and I used a standard quality tarp as a footprint both times. Doesn't seem right for holes to show up. We NEVER wear shoes inside our tents, also. There's only a couple and they're small--easily covered by the size of a dime and then some. Naturally if it doesn't rain this won't be a problem but in a downpour and a slight running of water it will be a nightmare. Options?
azgutpile Report post Posted August 4, 2014 Try some Tenacious Tape, KUIU recommended it to me for a tear in my rain gear and it seems to be holding up well. You can get it at REI or similar stores.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 4, 2014 I just got some of this product, which can be used not only to seal seams, but to patch holes. It comes in two sizes, the 8 oz is a big tube that can be used for a lot of patching. https://www.mcnett.com/gearaid/seam-grip#10510 Tenacious tape is another good product and you might be able to use both together for larger patches. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 4, 2014 fyi....I guess REI already thought of my idea of using tenacious tape and seam grip in a repair kit! You might want this kit: http://www.rei.com/product/783048/gear-aid-seam-grip-field-repair-kit#video-inner
rossislider Report post Posted August 4, 2014 I would return it. But it is also hard to beat the price of a roll of duct tape for tent repairs.
PRDATR Report post Posted August 6, 2014 If it has holes after just a couple of trips it may get more after each following use so I'm in the return it camp.
