New tripod!

Recommended Posts

The FedEx guy left me a present today! Vanguard Alta+ 225 carbon fiber with ball head. 5 section twist lock legs, weighs under 2 1/2lb and folds to 16 1/2in. You definitely can't stand up and glass with it but I hardly ever do anyway. I'm just glad I don't have to lug around my big legs around the hills anymore! The Vanguard Alta Pro 263 is a great tripod, solid legs, but just big and heavy. It'll get retired until I get a spotting scope or 15s.

Here's a few pics comparing it to the old tripod, next to my Vortex Dback 10x42s, and how it fits in my Eber X2 pack.

It fits completely in the sidewing pocket of the X2

That's a great little tripod. Two friends of mine use those legs with a ph-113V pan head instead of the ball head. These guys maul their equipment and this combo has held up. Holds a large spotter in the wind surprisingly well. Get yourself a walkstool and your set.

Great little tripod.

Walkstool! Awesome product that I thought was a ripoff but is worth it's weight in gold. Good suggestion!

The legs are adjustable so it folds down about the size of your tripod and fits in your pack. It is strong as a tank as well. Looks like but is not just a regular little stool.

This is the chair I use and hands down the way to go! Back support makes glassing for long periods of time doable. Also what I love about it that when u unbuckle the straps, it then becomes ur shooting mat! That tripod looks awesome!
