T-Rex Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I was lucky enough to get drawn for the House Rock (Kaibab) archery buffalo hunt in two weeks (Aug 15th) however, I have to work straight through up to opening day. I have heard that I should hunt along the park boundary. Any other suggestions? Does anyone know if there is just one large herd or are there several herds spread throughout the unit? Are there any buffalo down on the House Rock Wilderness Area? Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
muley224 Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I believe that the heard is no longer down at the ranch. Hunting by the Park is your best bet. Might want to talk to Todd Buck at AZGFD. Good luck on your hunt.
AZLance Report post Posted August 2, 2014 There were about 300+ buffalo just north of the National Park gate two weeks ago. They are almost tame now with all the park visitors driving by. I stalked out to within 75 yds and got some great pics. If you shoot one there, you will have quite an audience, as there were lots of people pulled over taking pictures.

yotebuster Report post Posted August 2, 2014 This is a cow tag correct?
T-Rex Report post Posted August 2, 2014 Yes, it is a cow or yearling bull tag.
Coues assassin Report post Posted August 2, 2014 +1 on curiosity for how many points I know a girl who drew the Raymond Ranch hunt at 14 years old with only 3 points
T-Rex Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I hesitate to post because I know how frustrating it is to put in year after year and never get drawn. (I have 13 Bonus points for elk) Anyways, it was the first time I have put in for Buffalo. Zero Bonus points.
trphyhntr Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I think id rather have a yearling than a big old bull anyway. easier to move and probably taste delicious.
