New to Show Low AZ

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I will be new to your area soon. I have accepted a job in Show Low AZ. I have been a avid hunter based out of Bartlesville OK, all of my life. Giving up hunting is just not something that I am ready to do, anyway after some research it looks like couse deer is the closest thing that I am used to.

I will be moving my family up later this year, just trying to make some friends and learn more about the area.

Any and all info appreciated, thanks.

the elk hunting up there is awesome, thats wher 99% of my elk hunting has been done. the mule deer used to be pretty good )according to my grandpa) but it has trickled off in the past years. still see a few deer here and there but not as often as it used to be. lots of good antelope up there was well. grandpa told me he saw a javelina over by greens peak somewhere. seen some big bears up there to.

Consider yourself very fortunate to live in Show Low. Good fishing, hunting, skiing, camping, hiking, etc.

There are still big muley bucks there. Getting better since the Rodeo fire too.

If I were you, I would take up archery (if you don't already) hunting to pass the time between tags drawn. It could be awhile, especially for Elk and Antelope.

Oh yeah, stay out of the casino! ;)

Hey guys, glad to hear some of you from around there. I work for Cable One here in oklahoma and am transferring to Show Low, I will be the Technical Operations Manager so this is a huge step for me. I am sure I will be busy for awhile but when things settle down I plan on doing some Hunting.

I have never had the opertunity to hunt Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope or Couse, so this will deffinatly be exciting for me.

Where we hunt around here is all done from tree stands, a little bit of spot and stock. But the ountry around here is so thick we usually just set up on some good trails get up in the trees and wait it out.

I am an avid Bow hunter as well as rifle and blackpowder, hope to get to meet some of you and maby get some info on where to go. Thanks Tony G.

Hey Tony,

Welcome to the White Mountains. I'm a transplant to the Show Low area from Oklahoma myself (Tahlequah) but that was some 22 years ago. I live in Wagon Wheel which is between Show Low and Lakeside. I think you'll enjoy the change!
