rcdinaz Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I was tired of carrying both. I went to the 12s and picked up an STS 80HD scope. The 12s are ~the same weight as my SLC 10s were and the scope is 4oz more than the 15s. Exactly what I did after having the 10's & 15's combo for years. 12's
Mike S Report post Posted August 2, 2014 Is it the swarovision that makes a difference or it is the middle ground magnification difference? For me it was the Swarovison combined with the field of view and ability to hand hold for quick peeks that made giving up the 15s easy. Mike
coues7 Report post Posted August 2, 2014 Anybody who has tried the 15's and 12's side by side have any input on all day glassing differences? Wish you had the extra 3 magnification?

rcdinaz Report post Posted August 2, 2014 And yes we glass side by side with 12's and 15's. They are both great so you cant go wrong and i loved using my 15's for years, even convinced 2 friends to buy them. I went to 12's last year and after 4 hunts i really like the extra FOV. coues7 Report post Posted August 2, 2014 HuntHarder, I needed the last few posts after yours for confirmation. I don't know about you, but I work awful hard for my $$ so I want to optimize the purchase. Thanks for all who have answered questions, especially those with first had experience
azgutpile Report post Posted August 2, 2014 If you spend the majority of your time glassing thick cover from over 800 yards away, the new 15s might be a better choice. Otherwise the new 12s are probably best choice.
HuntHarder Report post Posted August 2, 2014 Ha! I know the feeling of working hard for your $. I was just messing with you. I know it is a big decision, Best of luck to you on your purchase. On the Bright side, if you decide you do not like them, their resale is pretty dang good.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 3, 2014 I decided to go with the new 15x56 HDs. They are amazing. But it was a hard choice between those and the 12s. I am not sure those who are saying they choose the 12s over the 15s are talking about the new 15s with HD glass or if they are talking the older model. For sure go with the new 12s versus the older 15s, but the choice btwn the 12ELs and the 15 HDs is a much harder choice. I suggest you got to Outdoorsmans and test them side by side and see what you like best. The difference between the old 15s and the new ones is pretty dramatic. I had them side by side this evening and it was very obvious how much brigther the new 15 HDs are. I haven't had the 12s and 15s side by side yet though. I will this fall when I go hunting with Scott since he has the 12s.
Surefire Report post Posted August 29, 2014 Anybody know the contact info or name of the guy Payson who does the EL stud mount? I'm going to be passing through there on the way to Phoenix and if I can get the info I will call and see if he can fix my EL Ranges up with this stud mount.
