naturebob Report post Posted July 27, 2014 Muley for Me too. Close decision but that big Majestic rack against a saguaro setting can't be beat. Well Mabee by a 130 Coues.........BOB!
Mocha1545 Report post Posted July 27, 2014 I vote BOTH! I agree with TJ on the meat factor as long as it's a desert Muley. Desert Deer taste much better than the high elevation deer, IMO. Just so long as I get out and hunt one of them I'm good!
4Falls Report post Posted July 27, 2014 Honestly I can't decide. Either one would have me peeing down both legs unable to draw my bow.

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted July 27, 2014 Are you kidding me, 120" coues vs 190" muley? I just don't know when all the hype about inches took over in our hunting world. Hang a 120" coues along size a 190" muley and compare the two weights. There are definitely more steaks on a muley. I just asked my lab which she preferred and she said "are you kidding me? More chewing time on the muley". Enough said with this vote. TJ To me, mule deer meat just doesn't taste as good as Coues deer meat. So even with the meat criteria, Coues win in my book.

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted July 27, 2014 I can cook then both where they tast good, I'm hooked on these tiny deer though! Ate mulies my whole life. If they were side by side I hope the good lord would keep me from making a decesion that sent me to jail!
Flatlander Report post Posted July 27, 2014 TJ there is more meat on a 40 lb carp than on a 7 lb trout but I don't think many folks would be making that trade! Coues > Donkey Deer Just looking at it objectively; 190" is the B&C min. for mule deer and 120" is well in excess of the 110" minimum for the gray ghost!
mulie hunter Report post Posted July 28, 2014 No contest! 190 inch mule deer! That's a big buck and a very majestic animal! If you ever see one roaming the woods or the desert.... You will be wowed!

Tines Report post Posted July 28, 2014 The question is "would you rather". For me it's simple.... 190" mule deer. But are we talking desert or rocky?? 190" desert buck is ginormous. 190" rocky is still really, really, big. But my goal before I'm done hunting is to take a really big rocky buck so I'll take that right now. Not to hijack the thread, but let me throw this out there. This might shine a different light on those who think it's "easier" to find a 120" Coues deer compared to a 190" muley: If you could take your pick of any DRAW permits offered in AZ for both species, which would be the easiest to find, 190" or 120"?? POB Report post Posted July 28, 2014 Hey, I'm all-american... the bigger the better. If I could only hunt one, it would have to be the mulie. On a side note, if you could have only one tag would you take a dec. coues tag or a early bull tag?
