Coues assassin Report post Posted July 24, 2014 Well I just placed my order for the Garmin 62st after reading lots of reviews and reading through some of the forums here. It comes preloaded with topo 100k maps so my question for those who have this gps for a 62 what add ons should I do that are helpful? Or any tips for a gps this will be the first time using one thanks
AZ8 Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Great GPS! With that said, the 100K map will ok, but without a lot of detail. I would download the the Arizona 24K topo map from gpsfiledepot. http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/1

If so do I need to somehow turn off the 100k? I only plan to use it in Az anyways. At least in the near future
AZ8 Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Once you download the 24K to your Garmin, just go into the maps option and select it. That will be the map running on your GPS.
PRDATR Report post Posted October 15, 2014 I have a 62 I bought a couple of years ago and the batteries seem to last forever, but I'll second the part of keeping spares but I change them once a year and only use Duracell Quantum batteries and never had a problem. cohofishing Report post Posted October 16, 2014 I bought and used the ONXmaps for my Colorado hunt. It was awesome. I have been downloading maps from GPS websites for free but the $100 I spent on Rockies South (az-co-nm-ut) was worth it. Unit boundaries and land definitions worked great. Trails where right on also

Coues assassin Report post Posted November 28, 2014 Best GPS out there...I use it for work every day and love it, although I am tempted to buy the new 64 model The 64 was out when I bought my 62 but I liked the price of the 62. What major improvements does the 64 have?
