My idea of a bad day

Recommended Posts

Next time.... A thin hot piece of wire used in a sawing motion between the stock and steel. Once it's off the silicone will melt off with heat.

Yeah ... this!!!

I would definitely try if I ever had such a problem again.... but! it was not just barrel channel that was siliconed it was the whole thing. the split started at bolt channel where thinnest and just went on. when I popped bottom metal off I noticed silicone in threads so I ran long bolt up short bolt channel and sure enough a big blob of silicone was present.. so she had to come apart and be made right I just wish I had put it away and asked for ideas on here but I still think she would have split. oh well!

That's sucks man. Asking for help might of saved it but your judgment is the best since you had your hands on it. Other than heat or breakage, I'm not sure how to loosen silicone?[/quote

35 year old silicone is completely different animal! it is hard as a rock! i think the metal wood have had to been serrated. still debating that bdl stock in classifieds but you can buy new from stockys for $25 more and i kinda want the olive color. tan is good but olive is better.. not as good as this walnut was but obviously better for accuracy head tghey use aluminum blocks not ace hardware silicone tube]

Not exactly what I posted. Amanda must have a new auto correct system going on.

No, there is no new auto correct system....maybe you posted from your phone? My phone is always auto correcting stuff and I don't know it until I send it.
