sjvcon Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Next time.... A thin hot piece of wire used in a sawing motion between the stock and steel. Once it's off the silicone will melt off with heat. Yeah ... this!!!
hoghntr Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Next time.... A thin hot piece of wire used in a sawing motion between the stock and steel. Once it's off the silicone will melt off with heat. Yeah ... this!!! I would definitely try if I ever had such a problem again.... but! it was not just barrel channel that was siliconed it was the whole thing. the split started at bolt channel where thinnest and just went on. when I popped bottom metal off I noticed silicone in threads so I ran long bolt up short bolt channel and sure enough a big blob of silicone was present.. so she had to come apart and be made right I just wish I had put it away and asked for ideas on here but I still think she would have split. oh well! muledeerarea33? Report post Posted July 25, 2014 That's sucks man. Asking for help might of saved it but your judgment is the best since you had your hands on it. Other than heat or breakage, I'm not sure how to loosen silicone?
