muledeerarea33? Report post Posted July 24, 2014 Next time.... A thin hot piece of wire used in a sawing motion between the stock and steel. Once it's off the silicone will melt off with heat.

hoghntr Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Not exactly what I posted. Amanda must have a new auto correct system going on. Ha! actually this young man and his mom were selling few of dads guns he inherited when dad passed. so I know the kid knows squat about guns cuz he wanted the shiny one and was selling few classics.. look at this stock and see it was original from 1969, in think flor de lis? anyways yes I tried various materials in filing action but stayed away from metal cuz was afraid to scratch it.. L.O.L. honestly I figure old silicone how tough could it be?? I did not notice till I got it home of course.. I figured break seal from front and im golden! wrong! Moral is after 3 days sleeping in hospital for back then caught strep throat while in va hospital and now bored out of my skull and deathly ill... horrible combination for working on a gun.. safety all good im just saying I might have been a bit more gentle if............ hoghntr Report post Posted July 25, 2014 Btw totally down with the bdl bell & carlson but im a classic wood stock guy.. my first remmy 700 .243 was when I was 9 and I have killed many critters with it now my kids have used and others have used it.. my original was cut down in stock length and daughter rather likes it so this was to be my replacement. :'(
