Recommended Posts

lol wut, how would I have bad karma? you think this is the first individual whose not been able to go on a hunt due to unforeseen circumstances? stuff happens, sucks he got drawn the same year he was injured. im not hating on OP, its nothing personal. i don't care who it was i don't think you should get special privilege

If you got my unit I can put you and your wheelchair in one of my blinds. I have seen a few tv shows where they have done this as well. Sorry about the bad luck but let me know if I can be of any help.

I think you have to join their gay little club to tag surrender...

Don't mean to be harsh, but it's tough luck. This happens all the time to a bunch of hunters. It happened to me several years back and I missed early rifle bull tag.

He was still hunting out of a motorized wheel chair and seemed to be having more fun on his hunts than I do. But I haven't seen it In a while since versus switched to fox sports net and plays soccer instead of hunting

I get what all you guys are saying about tough luck. We have all been there myself included. I also remembering wishing I had a little help through it. If we can help him out we ought to whether it be signing a petition or helping out in the field.

To be honest, I don't feel G&F should allow him to surrender the tag. Before you get upset let me explain. G&F does not currently have any policy that allows for tag surrender with points being returned. It would not be fair for all those people who have had similar situations in the past. I signed the petition, because I feel horrible for anyone this happens to. I hope enough people sign the petition to get G&F to think about these issues and write Policy that includes tag surrender with points being returned.

Adam

Again I would be more than willing to help out as much as possible to ensure you get a Bull.

Even though you may be wheelchair bound for this hunt -

It seems to me your are capable of going on this hunt , even though it's not the way you normally hunt.

Sorry that this "rodeo" has changed your plans

Make the miracle happen - on your first elk hunt - even though confined to a wheelchair you successfully tag an elk of a lifetime - with the help of dedicated and loving friends.

It's not what you planned or envisioned but you can do this ! DO not let it drag you down - the MENTAL- stay positive - may be your biggest battle .

Best of LUCK

My brother in law drew his first bull tag and the got deployed to Afghanistan 3 months prior to the hunt and game and fish told him he could donate the tag but that's it I hope this petition works out for you and changes the way for the future of all unseen circumstances

I'm very sorry that this isn't how it was supposed to turn out for you. I highly recommend if you are physically able to get out and shoot an elk. There are many options available to you even in a wheelchair.

As I was out in the field the last couple days, I started envisioning and planning for my father-in-law's CHAMP elk hunt. Years past he was out there with us on foot chasing animals, but now post stroke he only has one side that works the way it used to. I know in my heart that this hunt is very hard for him in many ways because it isn't going to be the way it used to be, but between the three of us we will find a new way for him and we will make it the best time we can.

Again, unless there is absolutely no possible way for you to sit water I would NOT give up your elk tag, but rather adjust and make due with the situation at hand.

Just imagine how good it would feel if you were to conquer all and tag an elk :)
