What wildcat would you build?

Recommended Posts

If money wasnt an issue and you could build any wildcat cartidge you wanted, what would it be? For me i think i would get a 338 tejas... launching a 300 gr bullet around 3000 fps really intrigue's me

i've built a couple .257 AI and loved them. always wanted a .25/284 or 6.5/284 but ended up building(still) a .280 AI that i may never get to hunt with.

good luck,

lee

Built a .280 AI. Would like to build a .260 Nosler and a .338 Edge .... or maybe that .408 CT.

I shoot a 338 snipe tac. 408 chey tac necked down. Throwing a 300 gr at 3080fps. I have an edge reamer also and it performs very well. I think it shoots the three hundred grain at around 2700Fps.

Id like an ultralite 6.5 Leopard. That's a Coues gun if I've ever seen one.

Lol, well there ya go! pushing a TTSX, that'd be a nasty, nasty set up.

If money was no object I'd have a lazzeroni. Pry a war bird or bigger. Friend of mine lets lazzeroni hunt his ranch, he gave him a warbird and supplies him with ammo every year he comes to the ranch. That rifle shoots like a dream! I watched a whitetail drop at 1400 yards. I'm told he's getting a new Titan this year in .338.

The 338 Tejas sounded way cool until my buddy had one and he kept buying brass because they would get stuck in the chamber... the case wall is way too straight. He got fed up with it and ended up buying a 338 Lapua reamer and we cut the Tejas chamber off and did the Lapua.. he is still working on loads but even with a couple test loads he is at a 1/2" with room to improve.

338 Edge is awesome I built mine last year and shot my elk with it at 1300 yards last year too w one shot.

Right now I'm in the process of building another wildcat... I just cut most of the chamber a few minutes ago for my 6mm Dasher wanted one that would be way cheaper to shoot and still with a decent BC and besides nothing wrong with another gun or two.
