Remington recall

Recommended Posts

I sent my sendero in with a timney trigger , the time frame was post recall. The rifle was sent through the sportsmans warehouse, but for a complete different issue. It was sent there and back in 35 days, with the new remington trigger and reciever. The timney was in an envelope. The issue was the holes were tapped crooked for the scope bases. The turn-around was better than expected, due to the recall issue.

For those of you that have not been following the going-ons at Remington, they are not the company they used to be and neither are their products. Remington is now owned and operated by an investment group (Cerebus) under the name Freedom Group. Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS and other companies have been sucked into the black hole that is Freedom Group.

A whole new bunch of bean counters have taken over operations after they fired everybody who knew how to make a friggin rifle. Remington is, now, a company where low wage employees debate whether to work for Remington or McDonalds. Seriously. There is a blog out there of Remington Employees and the revelations do not make me want to buy another rifle from anybody under the Freedom Groups banner.

Off center sights, drooping barrels, mis-fitted parts are all common complaints these days. There are some good rifles and some real lemons being made, so if you are shopping, inspect very closely before you lay down your cash.

After Sandy Hook, Cerebus took a lot of heat for their Freedom Group holdings, especially since the rifle used was one of theirs. The board of shareholders have asked the CEOs of Cerebus to dump their Freedom Group holdings, but the company has become so large and so burdened with liabilities including a mountain of warrantee work. The company has now moved to another level of consolidation to try and make the Freedom Group easier to sell. The future there is very uncertain to say the least. The old iconic Remington and Marlin are now been reduced to just brands with no soul. The soul left with all the rifle builders and craftsman they dumped on.

It's all very sad to me.

That is awful! I am not happy to hear that, but glad that you said something. I will be sure to keep this in mind for future rifle purchases.

Bah! I knew I shouldn't of sent mine in. Where is the status update page you guys are using. And a for the fellow with the 870. Its most likely the 870 express, a different animal from the 870 icon. Make sure your chamber is clean as well.

I was sent an email from Remington with a link for a status update.

How many weeks after UPS dropped it off did you get an email? I sent mine in really late after I applied for the recall. Just never found time to drop it off at UPS.

About 7-10 days after I dropped it off, I got an email from them. Maybe, 3-4 days after it got to Remington the email came.

What's the recall? Is it on all models?

It is on all model 700's made between 2003 and now I believe with the x-mark pro trigger. If you have a rifle that you think might be affected, you can go on their website, put the serial number in, and it will tell you if your rifle falls under the recall.

Sent mine on June 9, got confirmation that it arrived at destination. Now it's a waiting game. Even though its free of charge, I am little scared that some schmuck in the shipping/receiving department might walk off with my gun between here and there. I did inquire with Harry Lawson Gunsmithing and he wanted $150, wondering if I should have kept it local and supported a Tucson business. The world is full of good people......right!!!!!

Well last Thursday 7/24 I noticed a slip of paper on my front door (it was from Remington-my 700 is repaired). It was from UPS stating they tried to drop off a package ,but no one was home. The note said they would retry the following day between 10:30-2:30. I told my wife to please hang around so she could sign for the package. Well the boy had to be picked up at 12:00 from school orientation so she left at 11:50, well when she got back there was another slip staing no one home at 11:58. ARGHHHHHHHHH I want my rifle. So I got on line and requested to leave the package at the main UPS bldg and that I would be by 7/28 to pick up in person.

Can't wait to remount my Zeiss scope and tune it back up. Elk and deer tags will be filled this fall.

Did you get an email stating it was sent back

No sir, just a post it from UPS on my front door. When I called Remington about 1 1/2 weeks ago, they said there was roughly 10,000+ guns ahead of mine. She was able to pull my info up from my phone number. She then said you will be receiving something from UPS, I never did receive anything except a failed delivery attempt sticker on my front door.
