Small rant here, I don't believe that one owner should control 1 million acres of land for any reason unless its public land held in trust. I believe this is just another part of the one percent putting thier thumb on everyone else. This thought was brought on by a recent article in the Wildlife Views Magazine availible from Game and Fish. Not a bad little mag and it looks like its going to be the set up for future plans in our state.

For a moment think about the Big Bo deal from last season and then consider Babbitt Ranches over one million acres holdings including land locks. Well not wanting to be left out Babbitt ranches got in with Game and Fish and I predict they will be generating revenue very soon mark my words, Game and Fish is working on a new set up with land owners who allow access to their lands called the Landowner Compact. I suggest if you have any favorite places involving the Babbitt ranches anywhere find this article and read it and be ready for anything. I am usually a glass half full guy for sure but this looks really bad in context.

Mike,

Is that AZGF magazine available online?

Remember meeting Vicki over at my house? Her step daughter is the AZGF liaison to land owners in region 5. Her take on it is to bring more private lands into the draw by offering incentives to ranchers such as tags and land management help to maximize feed available for wildlife (fewer cattle).

Looks like its only available physically and not online, I will have to type up the story and post it.

You are right on some of the content stating Game and Fish helping private land owners and maybe thats what will happen but it all cost money. I am just making a prediction, I dont even use any of the land that would be effected, Maybe they will partner up with land owners and there wont be charges involved in access but some of the wording was the same that showed up in unit 10. Some sounds like a good thing and some does not. Seems like a very big deal since there are alot of land owners. Now comes the setting of rules and then the checkpoints and then restricting access at certain times.

The bottom line is their land is getting a beat down from the public use or mis-use and now they have had enough so to keep it open they need money and enforcement and more rules so the dummies who were mis-useing can be booted or fined. And they are planning on all these land owners being combined so if you screw up on one property you get booted on all. (thats a good thing) LIke the retard at christopher creek with the fire last weekend. (got nailed by the way)

Texas's economy and GDP would not be what it is today without majority of land being in private hands.

We will have to wait until around the deer draw for any answers on this issue, I sent an email to the gentleman in charge of this and he is auto replying out of office with no contact until July 17th. Lucky dog.

I guess I dont know about what you are talking about, was Federal/State land sold for Big Bo/Babbit ranches??? or was it privite land bought-up by someone???

Limiting the amount of land a person can own sounds Karl Marx-ish.

I do not believe that public roads should be gated that go though private land, corner jumping should be legal, and trespassing on private property should carry STIFF penalties if the property line is properly marked.

I believe it was private land bought up but some of the land on the Big Bo was state trust and it becomes land locked now, Babbit has the same deal with State Trust and land locked state forest lands according to Game and Fish. I dont know how much but I am guessing they have roads that are not right of ways or easments the state can enforce. So if they chose to they could block and land lock access by roads. You can still get to most of the land with a big ride or hike I am guessing.

You remember the guy who owned the road up to the skywalk or something at the Grand canyon, he owned the land the road was on and shut it down to all traffic then started charging people to pass, something like that.
