Swivelhead Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Got an wildlife newsletter via email from G&F this afternoon. Copied and pasted from that newsletter: An Online Club for Hunters?Changes are coming to www.azgfd.gov The Arizona Game and Fish Commission is proposing a fee-based, online club providing unique services for hunters. Membership benefits may include: The ability to give back your tag to get your bonus points back Priority opportunity for surrendered tags Early access to draw results AGFD apparel What will membership cost? What services would it include? Join the conversation! Attend an upcoming public meeting and make your opinion known. If you can’t attend a meeting, e-mail ideas to portal@azgfd.gov. I realize this is in the dream phase but I'd like to think with the exception of AGFD apparel, why should anybody have to be a member of a club for these benefits? Personally, I find this ludicrous. 4Falls Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Just another way to get your money. Why would anyone want AZG&F apparel? I suppose you get a club bonus point as well.
Coach Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Actually, I like the first two options but I don't think we should be charged for them.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Just another way to seperate income classes and a step closer to "premium" tags. Wonder what the proposed fee to be a member of the azgfd country club will be?
4Falls Report post Posted June 21, 2014 They have such a great record with online stuff... Im sure this would work like a charm.
DesertBull Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Seems that the only way they could offer early draw results would be to delay the results for everyone else. That is DOUCHEY
Snapshot Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Like charging $5.00 to get draw results on the telephone
Edge Report post Posted June 21, 2014 Gee, AZGF apparel? Maybe I can dress up like a game warden and have some fun.
forepaw Report post Posted June 21, 2014 The first two items are something NV has been doing for years. If you draw an area, scout it, and don't like the looks of it, you can return your tag. You get your BP back, but you can only get your money returned if you can document a medical reason for the return. Not a big deal for residents, as NV resident tags are basically dirt cheap. Re: prior opportunity for surrendered tags, this is also something NV has been doing through their software and drawing contractor, Systems Consultants (Fallon, NV). Basically, you check the box on your app. to volunteer to receive an alternate tag if one becomes available. This sounds good until you realize you may get notified at the last minute of availability, it may be a difficult or depredation hunt, the alternate tag may be one that someone else with better knowledge of the area has already rejected, and you burn your bonus points on a hunt you may not know anything about and have no opportunity to research - your credit card gets hit and your bonus points sucked away as soon as the alternate tag becomes available. The "Hunting Club" idea has no appeal to me whatsoever. forepaw

Titanium700 Report post Posted June 21, 2014 They have such a great record with online stuff... SWDesertRat Report post Posted June 21, 2014 I would personally rather see money spent improving the current online draw operating system, including establishing a party application number so people can put in on the same application but pay separately etc rather than some online club or portal that your average hunter wont pay for. Fix what is broken, dont 'solve a problem' by giving us something we havent asked for.

elkaholic Report post Posted June 21, 2014 why should anyone "HAVE PRIORITY " to surrendered tags total B.S. get to see early results they are so far behind with the online process- but hey we can provide an exclusive service to members of our club- AT WHAT EXPENCE to the rest of us - oh yeah your fees will help to pay some one -- to be available to get the early info for you how many new jobs will this make or do we use current personnel do an additional job total B.S. surrendering a tag cuz you don't like your draw is -- TOTAL B.S. ONLY POSSIBLE CONSIDERATION FOR A RETURN OF TAG/POINTS - medical / doctors STATEMENT THAT YOU ARE PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO HUNT! Manage the wildlife - G&F - do not try to manage a HUNTING CLUB
ghost hunter Report post Posted June 22, 2014 To return a tag, you must have already drawn it, yes?. So, if you are a bunny hugger/tree hugger and draw a tag, not only did you keep someone else from drawing it, you get to give it back too? And keep the bonus pt? As for requiring a doctor to sign that you have a med issue, I'm sure one of those "medical marijuana" docs would give you what ever you need. Sounds like a good idea to me
