Unit 33, 2450 Coues tags!

Recommended Posts

Az will never have a population like some states and areas that are being compared. A long standing drought is a bummer but this is where we live. For everyone second guessing game and fish I urge you to call them and do a ride along, don't just call the main office and ask these specific questions to the nice lady. Call your local GM and fill out all the forms for a ride along, or ask to meet him/her for lunch to discuss these issues. If you still feel the same way great, but I learned a ton doing this. There is a lot of surveys, math, biology, hunter success, and a ton more factors involved to decide tag numbers.

You forgot the most important thing, MONEY $$$. Sure there are many surveys, math, biology involved....... but don't forget about the driving force: Money. Why did licenses and tag cost go up this year? More over this whole talk about an online hunter club that the G&F is trying to put together that will cost hunters $$ for special services. Tell me thats not about $$. We could do without a few tags in some of our units to improve buck to doe ratios, but if tags are taken away, then G&F loses money.

Prices increase every 8-10 years I believe. I'm fine with that because so does everything else. Fuel, food, and life in general cost more as time goes on. I agree they cut back tags they lose money, I just don't believe that's the number one motive but hey I might just be neieve.

Raise the tag costs is fine with Me. You hunt deer one week a year, if that, whats $100 or so. They gotta cut tags some how.We can't buy rain but We can cut tags. Look how much $ You spend on gear ,Gas, Ammo and Booze. The cost of a tag is Minor. Just My op...................BOB!

Hey Bob, slow your roll a bit buddy. My family hunts 5 deer per yr, that doesn't include archery tags for some of us. This isn't a rich man's pastime is it?

Bob I think the point he was trying to make is when you have a few kids to also buy tags for it can add up.

Ya, I figured that. If You enjoy Hunting so much You find a way to go. I raised 3 kids , I know what He means. Its tough. We never took Family vacations. Went hunting instead. There are ways. Gotta have a wife that plays along too, or understands.I am just trying to say deer tags are cheap compared to the cost of everything else in life. Hunting is pretty much the only thing I spend $ on, besides Beer....................BOB!

I usually apply for 4-5 kids that arnt my kids each year. Usually kids who have never hunted... I think i would have to cease doing this if tags were any more expensive.
