AZ8 Report post Posted June 15, 2014 Took a 5 mile hike through the desert and was entertained by the cicadas! Arizona folklore means the monsoon is near! Well, not really a scientific certainty, but the cicadas singing indicates the onset of our rainy season is near. Hopefully in a few weeks we hear the first thunder.

Snapshot Report post Posted June 15, 2014 The Cicadas outside my place are almost deafening this morning. Wish I could go to Lee's Ferry, and get in on some Cicada fishing action.
AZbowhntr Report post Posted June 16, 2014 My office door is starting to rub at the top. That is how I know that the monsoon season is getting close. Someday maybe I will fix it.
brademan76 Report post Posted July 10, 2018 Cicadas predicted the monsoon pretty well this year, at least where i am in the valley. I noticed their singing in the last 5-7 days.
