Jack Fire Final Update

Incident: Jack Fire Wildfire

Released: 37 min. ago (About 11:40 AM 6-15-14)

Happy Jack, Ariz. – The Jack Fire, located thirteen miles northeast of Happy Jack on the Coconino National Forest, is currently 1,250 acres in size; the size adjustment is in large part due to a flight around the perimeter which more accurately accounted for the actual size. The fire is burning in grass and pinyon-juniper to the West of State Route 87.

Firefighters were able to establish a line around the perimeter of the fire; there is no threat to the line at this time.

No structures are threatened. The rock climbing area in Jack’s Canyon had been evacuated and is closed at this time. Information will be updated at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/3897/ .

The objectives of the Jack Fire include providing for firefighter and public safety; protecting life and property; evaluating and protecting environmental resources; keeping the fire contained West of Hwy 87, North of Jacks Canyon Recreation Area, and East of Long Lake; and keeping the public informed of any potential smoke impacts.

Today, the National Weather Service is forecasting a high near 84 degrees, relative humidity around 10%, and southwest winds between 15-20 mph with gusts as high as 35 mph in the afternoon.
