Healthcare Cost

Recommended Posts

Guest akaspecials

So I've been traveling abroad for work the last few weeks and decided to see a doc here to get some scripts filled before returning to the US.

Anyways, I just went to a doctor in India ($3) and filled all of my prescriptions($3). So for everything, that is $6 total!

In the US, I would have had a $25 copay to the doc, the insurance would have paid $150, and then I would have had a $10 copay at the pharmacist, and the insurance would have paid another $40. So basically, in India, $6, in America $225.

Although I love my guns, trucks, beef, and beer; I may be retiring to a foreign country. Until you travel abroad and see the cost of medicine, you don't realize how bad we are being screwed in the US. Just wanted to let people know since most folks won't get the chance to experience foreign healthcare...

When i was a kid we were in Rocky Point riding the old atc's and sis busted her chin open.. we were scared to get her fixed up but it was emergency. the super nice doctor walked us from room to room carrying a fan and stitched her face up perfectly and then charged $20.. so even after getting wallet stolenoff dash night before while we slept in truck i believe dad still came up with a $50 for him. :)

Everybody always said how lucky i was to have VA medical coverge, well now people have a better understanding of that free care i get. PRETTY DANG COSTLY IF YA ASK ME.. i do pray this is not what becomes of civilian healthcare.. oh wait i am civilian but stuck with sub par healthcare. :(

Well your probably not gonna travel to India for a root canal but good to know our Country cares about us so much.

**just watched on tv last night a special on the OJ Simpson trial and the civil suit and i realized how much alike OJ and our Obama carry themselves. scarey!

Pretty nice when there's no risk for BS lawsuits or not being obligated to provide service to those who can't or won't pay or when you don't have to absorb the cost of the obese smoking diabetic because it's only right/fair that everyone should have the same rates regardless of personal choices.

Not to mention not being required to spend thousands on electronic records, OSHA regs, HIPPA requirements and all the other bureaucratic BS the government piles on.

$6 is a DEAL for sure!

BTW, as you must already know, not only is health care a great deal in India, pretty much anything is fairly cheap (at least from a 'services' perspective.....). I travel to India for work occasionally, and am serisouly spending a few months a year in Kerala when I retire! All the fresh fish, bananas, cocoanuts, and amazing spices you want CHEAP! ;)
