trphyhntr Report post Posted June 10, 2014 where is better quality, that 6a hunt or the 27 hunts, or are they both pretty equal?
Heat Report post Posted June 10, 2014 trphyhntr, Better is in the eye of the tagholder! As we saw with the hunts Jay Scott did in 6A last year, there are some really good rams there, but that unit does not have the history and the population that 27 has. Here are the B&C Green scores from 2013 as measured by AZGF without respect to first or second season: 6A: 179 4/8, 181 2/8, 176 7/8, 168 6/8 27/28: 168 5/8, 177, 179 3/8, 168 4/8, 167, 157 5/8 Something to note...The oldest ram, which would be the most desirable ram to harvest from a biological perspective, was the lowest scoring ram of the bunch. Everybody has their notion of quality. Do you want one with big mass, length, an even look without chips or breaks? It's all different. If you are simply interested in the highest score then you need to look at A LOT of rams! Good luck in the drawing! FWIW I didn't select either of those units. Heat Report post Posted June 10, 2014 I misspoke, I meant didn't select any of those hunts. I chose the Upper and Lower Blue River hunts for my choices. I did that because I want all 31 days, not half a season. I also put a lot of weight on where I shoot my ram. It would be awesome to get WAY back in there with backpacks, Mules, or Horses and have a true wilderness hunt. You might shoot your ram right next to an active mine in 27 if that is where you draw. Again, to each his own. Good Luck!
