DesertBull Report post Posted June 7, 2014 Looks like jock panicked a little in the turn. He was caught on the rail the whole way and the jock swung him wide to try and get around but if he just stays on the rail another 10 seconds it would have opened up as the horses come out of the turn. the horse that stayed on the rail finished strong by not losing ground on the turn Either way Chrome had no kick the final 1/2 furlong. AZ8 Report post Posted June 7, 2014 California Chrome was simply out of gas. The mile and a half will confirm that everytime. It was fun to watch the past several weeks. Maybe next year!

elkaholic Report post Posted June 7, 2014 all the hoopla - chrome didnt run his best race - that's what it take to win the big 3 when its all said and done - the jockey kinda let him down by putting him in a position where he normally loses - that my .02 he didn't win the first 2 by being back in the pack and then on the outside trying to catch-up
43F Report post Posted June 8, 2014 It's been this way for 140 years and he wants to change the rules? Sorry you just crapped the bed. You had a great run with a horse that outran his pedigree by a million miles. Be grateful. His horse was 5th, not beaten a nose by a fresh horse. Of course he wants the rules to change, just like they changed the rules about the nasal strips his horse uses. They were not allowed until he said he would pull his horse out of the race. The guy is a complete butt.
Edge Report post Posted June 9, 2014 Here's a pic of Ca Chrome leaving the starting gate and having his heel stomped on by Matterhorn. Chrome showed a lot of heart in this race, running with a good portion of his front right heel gone. Wish his co=owner could have cowboy'd up as much. Leave it to a horse to humble a man, every time And my trivia question concerning 1986 Kentucky Derby 17-1 winner Ferdinand's fate? Sadly, he was sent to stand as stud at a breeding farm in Japan. When he failed to produce speedy off spring, he wound up an entree on Japanese dinner plates.
