2 Deadhead Bulls in 2.5 hours

Recommended Posts

Was an excellent morning out. The first one has a crazy three-antler configuration with a blade sticking out front. The other one is a nice little six with huge pedicles. Also got some surprising bear and lion camera photos I posted in the trail cam forum.

Cool. What's the rule on taking a dead head from the field?

What most people seem to follow is if it has been dead long enough for the flesh and most of the skin to be gone when you find it, its fair game. I thinks its a grey area though... unless someone from "the Department" wants to chime in.

The white one had no other bones or anything that I could find, it was in the bottom of a gorge and had been there for years. Literally just the head. The weird antler one did appear to have a small hole high mid torso, but not sure if it was weapon induced or not.

If u report the bull with hide and hair the WM will come out and do an investigation. If he's cool and it clears then more than likely he will let you take the head. Mu buddy had a similar situation happen last year on a rut hunt.WM came out and investigated. Found the bull had no bullet or arrow wound but he took a tine near the groin and died from infection. Called my buddy the next day and delivered the rack. My buddy had a cow tag. He tagged out on a calf. I tried to get him to full body mount the calf with the rack from the big 6. Would have been awesome..
