cohofishing Report post Posted May 30, 2014 I have been reading all the posts about different loads and bullets. I will be hunting Colorado this fall and can not use sabots. I have 245gr powerbelts and 250gr thors. Does anyone have any other ideas? I will be hunting mule deer. Brent

1uglydude Report post Posted June 2, 2014 Barnes 250grn Expander. He said that he can't use sabots in CO. The Thor bullets worked okay for me, and I liked that they were lead free. I use sabots here.

gemihur Report post Posted October 19, 2016 I use 235 gr. .452 RN cast & 70 gr. 777 down my Gonic GA-90 .45 cal. Bbl on the contender. Very fast and superbly accurate. Only have used it on Eastern whitetail to date. They didn't go far, tho.
Sparkitoff Report post Posted January 30, 2018 Different rifles tend to have different favorites that they just work best with. I have a .50 that shoots 295 gr Powerbelt AT best with 70 gr 777 3Fg. I have not used them on elk. My .54 likes No Excuse bullets (they only have one in .54 cal) with 80 grains 777 3Fg. They have performed excellent on several out at 100 yards. No Excuse makes at least 2 bullets that you can use in CO. They load easy (called slip-fit) and are consistently accurate for my circle of muzzleloader shooting friends. gemihur Report post Posted July 29, 2021 No Excuses bullet are excellent but Powerbelts literally explode if game is within 75 yds. Never lost one yet! You may sacrifice the exit hole but your game will be down, keep your eyes on it's direction because blood trail may be hard to find
