matthewp45 Report post Posted January 10, 2007 Well, I just got back from my San Carlos hunt and had a blast. I was fortunate enough to take this buck on opening day. With his one bladed beam and his beams almost touching I could not let him go. I stalked up to 225 yards and let the old 7MM Dakota bark. I helped the other guy I was with the rest of the time and he missed one monster. Definetly bigger than my 109 on the wall. I ended up killing my buck this year about 30 yards from where I killed my 109 2 years ago. I also saw 3 mountain lions. One solo and two together. I got a good picture through the scope of the single. Thank the good lord for the outdoors and the fun we have in it.

matthewp45 Report post Posted January 10, 2007 Thanks guys. They gave us a lion tag for free but that lion was 2 miles out and I only had 30 minutes of light left. The two together were a mile and disapeared into a huge thick drainage. I would have loved to have take one of those cats.
AZbowhntr Report post Posted January 10, 2007 Great buck. I just got back from helping a friend in zone A. We are going back up this week to finish up. We have passed on a few but haven't seen anything as nice as yours. We have been keeping our eyes open for any lions. My friend would rather take a lion than a buck. Congrats
AZP&Y Report post Posted January 11, 2007 NIce buck! Between that Kansas deer and a San Carlos Coues - you've got the whitetail thing down~ ! Congrats! AzP&Y Doug Because that buck was taken on the Rez , I guess you're still able to harvest an archery or rifle deer in AZ for 2007? That is fantastic!
