Shooter McGavin Report post Posted May 21, 2014 I recently picked up a Browning (Beretta) B80 semi auto 12 gauge, 28' barrel, 3" chambered with threaded chokes really gorgeous shotgun. I have read that this gun is really picky about 2 3/4" ammo. I want to use it mostly for dove and quail. Does anybody have one out there that they are using and what brand 12g shells are you using if it is 2 3/4 dia. Any help would be greatly appreciated. yotebuster Report post Posted May 22, 2014 It should run most 1 1/8 oz loads. If its still picky then try the super handicap AA's. My brother had a B-80 for a while, nice gun, its actually a beretta 303 or 301 if I remember right.
Coues assassin Report post Posted May 22, 2014 I had the same problem it didn't like my cheap Winchester ammo it was to light to kick it out. After doing some research I came to the conclusion you need something 1200fps or higher. Also I gave it a good cleaning and oil. Just my .02 I could be way off but mine works perfect now. Just pick up a box and give it a shot good luck
Shooter McGavin Report post Posted May 22, 2014 I heard the samthing about 1200 fps as well. I will try a box and go from there. Thanks for responding
yotebuster Report post Posted May 22, 2014 The dram and shot weight is more important then the fps. It just happens that most of the faster loads have higher dram. Look for 3 to 3 1/4 dram and 1 1/8 oz shot. A load like this should be pushing 1300 fps anyhow, but the velocity has nothing to do with how a gas gun will handle it. They make a 7/8 oz super speed Winchester dove load with a low dram that goes 1350 that I guarantee you won't cycle through a B80
