unit 32 early hunt

Recommended Posts

Where do you guys think is a good place to find a record book buck in October? This is my first tag in this area.

I've seen a lot of good bucks in that unit. One of them was easily over 100. I hunt the San Pedro side of the Galiuro's. There is an area up there that produces a lot of bucks in OCT/NOV. If you want info on how to get there, email me.

There are record book bucks under every tree in that unit, what you need to be holding out for is a 130 net typical type deer. Preferrably a 4 pointer if you can find one , but you might as well shoot a 3 pointer that scores 127" if you can not find a 4 pointer that goes 130" ;)

Try hunting the east side around sunset loop or the west side around jackson cabin. It will take some hiking in to find them but take your time and glass and you should be able to find some good deer. By the way is this for mule or wt.

It is a great area you should have good luck at filling your tag on a good buck. I would say that if you can , hold out for a good one and let the small guy's grow up for next year.

My brother and I have two bucks in that unit we have named them WALTER and WALTERS BROTHER. They are in a spot that I will not tell. Take your time in the mornings to glass the sides of the hills that the sun comes up on. It will keep you in the cover of shade longer and the bucks will feed up those ridges and get a bit of sun while they eat .

I hunted unit 32 in 1997 nov, 1998 oct and 2001 nov for coues. Good deer numbers can be found around fourmile creek west of Klondyke. The main road west of Klondyke hits a ranch house and then a steep road heads south up a hill. That road will loop around if you take the second right and go about 3 miles back in there. If you keep going you will hit good coues country with plenty of hunters during the oct, nov hunt. If you hunt hard in that area you will likely see plenty of smaller bucks but have yet to see a big one in there. If you want a bigger one your going to have to backpack into the bigger peaks west of there and hunt your butt off. email at coues14@aol.com for specifics.
