AverageJoe Report post Posted May 6, 2014 I know this has been covered before but now that the swaro 12x50's have been out for a while as well as others, which binocular is your favorite for those that have had both. I am in the market. Most of my glassing is long range. Thanks for any help. I have read reviews all night on various sights but hard to find reviews that help with hunting out west. 12x50 or 15x56? And I am only concerned with the better glass that is out there. Mainly Swaro, Leica, and Vortex

Mike S Report post Posted May 15, 2014 When I first bought my 12x50 ELs, I thought I'd never sell my 15x60 B/GA Zeiss. After 2 seasons I realized i just didn't need them any more. I do pack a Swaro 65mm, (non HD) but even that is a disappointment after looking through the 12s.
azgutpile Report post Posted May 15, 2014 I currently have a set of 12x50 ELs and all of my friends have the 15s.. If most of your glassing is over 750 yards, or if you spend the majority of your time glassing really thick cover, the 15x56 HD Swaros might be a better choice. If you are looking for a set of binos that covers all the scenarios, the 12 x 50s are a better. Other things to consider are the weight, and your current vision. (If your vision isn't all that great, you might benefit more with the 3x more power of the 15s. )
