BOHNTR Report post Posted May 6, 2014 I'm most definitely not a Coues expert.......and even though I've officially measured many, I still have trouble field judging them at times. They all look small to me compared to mule deer. I had this one come in to a hidden, natural water source I know of away from roads and people. Had him come in before I could legally hunt him (end of December) and took this photo. So, how big is he? His beams look exceptional, but I'm not quite sure about the rest. Thought I'd leave it to the experts here and see what you think.

gotcoues Report post Posted May 6, 2014 I'm seeing around 115ish. Do you have different angles? Hard to tell what the left g3has got going on. Great buck! I would be shocked if he doesn't gross score over 110. Beams are awesome, but hard to get a width from that pic.
ylclaret Report post Posted May 6, 2014 I agree. He has great main beams, very good g2's an awesome g3 on the right side and a questionable one on the left, but who knows what a different angle might show there and if you look closely you can see he has really good eye guards. I bet he has 10-12" in those eye guards alone
shanehamblin Report post Posted May 6, 2014 That buck is a stud. No brainer. My opinion he's over 110". Giant beams. Looks like great brows too. Shooter on any hunt
kwp Report post Posted May 6, 2014 Great looking buck with a big frame. I'd say 110 if he had a g3 on his left that matched the right. As is more like 105. Go find his sheds and let us know. Would love to see what he grows this year.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted May 6, 2014 110+. Good eye guards and main beam length. little weak on left G3, but good mass. Great pic, what type of camera?

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted May 6, 2014 That's a buck you don't pass unless you're Jim Reynolds. End of story.
couesmagnet Report post Posted May 6, 2014 101 to 104. Crushed by g3 on the left, and narrow spread credit to boot. He is still a big buck though with a great frame!! Pass unless it's with a bow and wait to see if his g3 looks better next year.
SunDevil Report post Posted May 6, 2014 STUD for sure. Nice beams, nice eye guards, nice 2nds. I think another way of approaching this that might be a little bit easier is to ask yourself if would be happy putting your tag on this buck. If you and all of us experts think this buck is a 112" class buck, then you shoot him and find out he is a 104" buck are you going to be disappointed? Good luck!
