7east early archery

Recommended Posts

Wondering what the locals think about this unit and its deer population, and locations during this hunt. I have not hunted this unit before and iam curious if the elk have lowered the numbers so much up in the peaks that its not worth attempting to hunt up there? I have heard this was a great unit in the 50's 60's 70's and the high elevations where littered with huge bucks.

Yes juniper. I was hiking when I saw them. I built a brush blind under a juniper tree about 110 yds from a trik tank. I sat for 5 hours and saw nothing

There are deer up there, and some nice ones. Just not in the numbers there used to be it seems. I hunted 7 a lot last year in preparation/scouting for a friend's daughter who had a bull tag. I saw a few deer, and even some decent ones. Put a stalk on a nice 3x3 but could not close the deal, and I was not hunting hard. The more remote you get, the more deer you will see. Get away from the roads.

Lots of does. The does are everywhere it seems. With the high number of rifle tags it seems like the number and quality of bucks has gone way down compared to what it used to be
